He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Cates and Edna Cates; his wife Ruby; and his children, Jimmy and Susie.
He is survived by: his daughters, Donna French (Tom) of Englewood, CO, Tonya Williams (Stoy), Edna Morris (Robert) of Evansville, IN and April Nichols (Mike) of Alabama; his daughter-in-law Theresa Abel of Evansville, IN; and his sons, David Bullington (Pat) of Jasper, IN, Tracy of Evansville, IN, Ricky Cates (Rhonda) of Florida and Donnie Cates (Sharon) of Montana. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, Washington Avenue (5330 Washington Ave, Evansville, IN 47715). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
