He was predeceased by: his fathers, Leo Payton and Louis Payton; his siblings, Gary Payton and Karen Kimmell; his grandchildren, Makenna and Keegan Payton; and his pet Sammie Payton.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Payton; his children, Kurtis Payton (Amanda) and Callie Pohlman (Peter); his granddaughters, Olivia Payton and Sierra Payton; and his brothers, Mike Payton, Bruce Payton (Sue) and Brad Payton (Kim). He is also survived by many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives.
