He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Bill" Qualters and Dorothy Smith Qualters; his grandmother Minnie Smith Austin; his daughter Tracy Lynn; his grandson Justice Scott Froman; and his brother James E. Qualters.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra D. Howard; his daughters, Lisa M. Lieber (Keith), Deborah L. Patton (Paul), Jamie S. VanMeter (Jason) and Jennifer D. Atwood (Justin); his grandchildren, Bryant Mortensen (Larissa), Abigail Bates (Evan), Brittany, Brandon Patton, Olivia, Caleb, Hannah VanMeter, Jesse, Jayla and Jenna Froman; his great grandchild Rory Mortensen; and his siblings, John Qualters and Mary Green.
