He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Derrickson (Brown) and James Derrickson; his son Scott Derrickson; his stepson Andrew B. Smith; and his brothers, Doug Derrickson, David Derrickson and Jimmy Derrickson.
He is survived by: his wife Debra J. Smith (Call); his close friend Debra Smith of Elwood; his daughter Shawnna Derrickson (Courtney) of Muncie; his stepson Matthew Leffert (Brook) of Elwood; his siblings, Cynthia Farrar of Illinois, Marge Staggs of Illinois and Tom Derrickson (Ginger) of Lebanon; his grandchildren, Maddy A. Smith and Chloe B. Smith (Sean); his daughter-in-law Amy Noone-Smith of Elwood; and his pets, Bradley and Charlie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Animal Shelter to honor Jim's love of animals.
