He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles L. Thornberry and Mary Thornberry (Courtney); his children, Lisa Keairns and Stephen D. Thornberry; and his siblings, Robert "Bobby" Thornberry and Clara Thornberry.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn R. Kohn of Elwood; his children, Ann Marie Pace (Ron) of Lafayette and Mark A. Thornberry (Elaine); his brother Charles Thornberry of Elwood; and his grandchildren, Tyler Thornberry (Christy), Dylan Thornberry, Noah Thornberry, Emily Roeder (Tim), Joshua Murray and Justin Keairns.
