With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betty Jane Smith of Elwood, Indiana, born in Morgantown, West Virginia, who passed away on September 13, 2022 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Birtcher and Emma Birtcher (Kiernan); her husband Sherman "Orvial" Smith; her children, Caroline Mullins, Charlotte Leland, Charles Farley and Donald Smith; her grandchildren, Andrew Stanley, Melissa Hobbs and Daniel Latecki; her son-in-law Robert Martin; and her siblings, James, Calvin, George, Jack Birtcher, Lillian Shostek, Isadore Hall and Eleanor McGinnis.
She is survived by: her children, Beverly Martin of Anderson, IN, Frances L. of Elwood, IN, Deborah Hale (Nathan) of Alexandria, IN, Barbara Stanley (Steve) of Summitville, IN, Lowell Smith, Ronald Smith (Kathy) of Gas City, IN, Howard Smith of Kokomo, IN, Harold Smith (Darlene) of Frankton, IN and Christopher Farley (Cindy Reed). She is also survived by 40 grandchildren, and a wealth of great and great-great- grandchildren.
