He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward Matthews and Leola Grace Matthews (Williams); and his siblings, Tom Matthews and Nancy Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Gennie Matthews (Chambers); his children, Allen Harrell (Lisa), Douglas Matthews (Michelle) and Sheila Hicks (Larry); his grandchildren, Whitney Sokola (David) and Dustin Matthews; his great grandchild Vincent Sokola; and his siblings, Van Matthews (Donna), Lue Bindhammer and Sue Houk (David).
