She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgil R. Mikel and Florence E. Mikel (Hawkins); her husband Arthur L. Smith; her stepson Dwight Smith; her daughter-in-law Jayne Digly-New; her siblings, Bemis Mikel, John Mikel of Wakarusa, William Mikel, Ruth Mikel, Mary Mikel, Wilma Hepler, Ruby Unsicker of Bremen, IN and Joy VanDekeere; and her grandsons, McCartney Ryker and Chad Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Terry New (Lorie) of Elkhart, Donald New of Goode, Ronald Digly-New (Tiffany) of Greensboro, NC and Debra Clark of South Bend, IN; her stepdaughters, Pam Wetzel of Osceola, IN and Cheryl Burris (Ron) of Granger, IN.; and her siblings, Carolyn Rutherford (Marvin), Irma Jackson of Elkhart, George Mikel of Bremen, IN and Charles Mikel. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
