He was predeceased by : his parents, Jack Johnson and Hope Johnson (Raeder); his former life partner Darleen Johnson (McDonald); his wife Darlene; and his sisters, Linda Paulson and Sandra Straw.

He is survived by : his children, Kirk Johnson (Kelly McCraner) of Elkhart and Joanna Johnson of Illinois; and his stepsons, Scott McDonald and Sam McDonald (Amy).
