He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Melkus and Elinor Melkus (Taylor) of Elkhart, IN. He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Elaine Melkus; his sisters, Marilyn Melkus (Lisa Gray) and Margaret Long (Jim); his daughters, Lanee Hastings (Lamarr) and Lindsey Ambroziak (Patrick); his grandchildren, Mason Heminger (Helena), Emma Jensen (Cameron), James Heminger, Savannah Ambroziak and Carson Ambroziak; and his great grandchildren, Emma, Emerson, Emmett, Luke, Colter (Heminger) and James Lincoln Jensen.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 1:00 PM at 53373 Co Rd 131, Bristol, IN 46507.
