She is survived by: her children, Richard Byer (Denise) of Elkhart, IN and Cindy Kissel (Jeff) of Evansville, IN; her brother Carl Freeman of Winamac, IN; her grandsons, Kevin Byer (Jodi) of Elkhart, IN, Eric Byer (Kayleigh) of Indianapolis, IN, Daniel Kissel (Leah) of Carmel, IN and Jason Kissel (Jessie) of Fishers, IN; and her great grandchildren, Madison Byer of Elkhart, IN and Austin Kissel of Fishers, IN..
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Rannells Funeral Home - Hamlet Chapel (102 W Davis St, Hamlet, IN 46532).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local scholarship fund in Joan's honor, continuing her legacy of supporting education in the community she so loved.
