He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernice Garrett (Appleton) and Travis Garrett; his brother Aaron Garrett; and his brother-in-law Geno Bellino. He is survived by: his sister Donna Bellino; his grandchildren, Owen Vogelgesang, Gavin Vogelgesang and Avery Vogelgesang; his sister-in-law Barb Kipker (Steve Kipker); his nieces, Natalie Garrett, Lisa Null, Courtney Kipker and Lindsey Bellino (Tara Call); and his nephew Kyle Bellino. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
