He was predeceased by: his parents, Alonzo Velez Vasquez and Paula Velez Roman; and his daughter Elsa Andino. He is survived by: his spouse Nereida Velez; his children, Eliadis Rivera, Santiago Velez, Jr. (Nancy), Jamie Velez, Hector Velez, Sandra Rivera, Nelson Velez, Wanda Enriquez (Santos) and David Velez; and his brother Adolfo Velez (Maria). He is also survived by 40 grandchildren; over 30 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren.
