He is survived by: his spouse Velia Rangel; and his children, Diana Benedict (late Julian), John Rangel Jr., Art Rangel (Jennifer), Richard Rangel and Tricia Jackson (late Alan). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Disabled Veterans.
