She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Stopka and Mary Stopka; her brothers, Andy, Albert and Bill Stopka; her husband J. E. "John" Birlson; and her son James Birlson.
She is survived by: her children, Linda Shelson (Mark), Thomas Birlson (Alice), Donald Birlson, Karen Ferrer, John Birlson (Rita) and Robert Birlson (Theresa); her grandchildren, Jacob Sills, Geena Ward, Keith Birlson, Erica Ferrer, Mark Shelson Jr., Haley Mireles, William Ferrer, Stacey Birlson, Rhea Birlson, Olivia Sokołowska, Emily Dudley, Lucas Birlson, Andrew Birlson, Sophia Birlson and Elizabeth Birlson; and her great grandchildren, Remington Minshall, Mila Mireles and Minshall.
