She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph Van Schouwen; and her parents, Henry DeValk and Katie DeValk. She is survived by: her children, Dawn De Boer (James) and Daryl Van Schouwen (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Rachel Nelson (Curt), Darren De Boer (Caitlin), David De Boer (Sarah), Diana De Boer (Joel), Kelly Natelborg (Brad), Vince Van Schouwen (Holly) and Kate Zandstra (Jared); her great grandchildren, Chloe, Emma, Teddy, Cody, Ethan, Jacob, Charlotte, Madelyn, Owen, Jason, James, Nora, Micah, Anneke, Seth, Joanna and Willson; and her siblings, Mavis Van Beek (late Cliff) and Dale DeValk (Sandra).
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Smits Funeral Home (2121 Pleasant Springs Ln, Dyer, IN 46311). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Glen United Reformed Church (2244 Indiana Ave, Lansing, IL 60438).
Memorials may be given to Highland Christian School (https://highlandchristian.org), Crown Point Christian School, Illiana Christian High School, Providence Christian Academy, or Grand Rapids Christian School – Evergreen Campus.
