He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen William "Willie" Ely and Mary Elizabeth Kelly Ely; and his siblings, Willard, Raymond, Paul "Jack", Ralph Ely, Virginia McDonough, Hazel Dove, Mollie Hendricks and Roberta Phillips.
He is survived by: his cousin Derreck Ison of Dupont; and his caregiver Ann Ison of Madison, Indiana. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
