He was predeceased by: his parents, Kurt Backer and Erna Troutman Backer; his son Tim Eaton; and his brother Jim Backer. He is survived by: his wife Betty Backer of Hot Springs; his children-in-law, Kurt Backer, Cindy Amich, Brad Amich of Summitville, Joanna Funderburk and Wallace Funderburk of Mount Ida; his sister Karla Backer of Indianapolis; and also, Mary Backer of Dunkirk and Terry Eaton of Hot Springs. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren.
