He was predeceased by: his parents, William Swan and Blanche Swan (Arnold); his wife Dorthy Jane Swan (Johnson); and his siblings, Bill, Bob, Jim Swan, Tish Schad, Becky Swan, Mary Ballard and Colleen Johnson.

He is survived by: his children, Rick Swan (Marcey) of Switz City, IN and Heather Richardson of Dugger, IN; his sisters, Ruth Williams of Dugger, IN and Lorna Dellion of Dugger, IN; and his grandchildren, Cody Swan (Jessica), Aedria Alsman, Hunter Swan, Dakota Brown Tayla (Skylar) and Jasmine Richardson. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
