He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Goodpaster and Muriel Goodpaster (Eaglin); and his sister Maryettta McClellan. He is survived by: his wife Linda Goodpaster (Transier) of Dillsboro; his daughters, Regina Hensley (Reid) of Greendale and Rhonda Goodpaster (Richard Butler) of Greendale; his siblings, Robert Goodpaster of Dillsboro, Kenneth Goodpaster (Vedenna) of Aurora, Janet Oak of Dillsboro and Kay Scott (Jim) of Aurora; his grandchildren, Kayla Hensley, Logan Hensley, Grant Hensley, Gabriel Hensley, Jessica Butler (Nathan Straessle), Jonas Butler (Danielle) and Celia Butler; and his great grandchildren, Stella Straessle and Graham Straessle.

Memorials may be given in honor of Ron to Vietnam Veterans or Cancer Fund.
