He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Race and Evelyn G. Race (Ecklar); his parents-in-law, Frank and Esther Dennis; his siblings-in-law, Basil Peugh, Everett Walton, Wanda Dennis Walton and Janet Walton; and his great-niece Maggie Dickerson.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Race of Bear Branch; his daughters, Heather Race of Bear Branch and LeeAnn Boggs (Mark) of Vevay, IN; his granddaughters, Carlee and Claire Boggs; his sister Velma Race Peugh of Aurora, IN; and his nephew Jeff Dickerson of Versailles, IN. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.

Memorials may be given in honor of John to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or the Shriner's Hospitals for Children Medical Center.

“We are so sorry for the loss of John… He was a great person & very friendly I got to know John when I worked at Friendship State Bank…. He came into Friendship for meetings and things.
