She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Kirkey and Evelyn Kirkey (Ake). She is survived by: her husband William "Bud" Schmaltz of Dillsboro; and her sons, Donald "Dino" Schmaltz (Kim) of Dillsboro, William "Rick" Schmaltz (Carolyn) of Moores Hill and Charles Steven Craig of Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
