She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Hyser and Evelyn Hyser (Curry); her husband George Belschner; her daughter Candy Richie; and her granddaughter Jennifer Shoppell.

She is survived by: her daughter Lana Melton of Dillsboro; her grandchildren, Jason Melton (Nicole) of New Albany and Kari Finnegan (Casey) of Dillsboro; and her great grandchildren, Charlie Finnegan, James Finnegan, Everett Melton and Alton Melton.

Memorials may be given in honor of Bette to the Dillsboro American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
