He was predeceased by: his father Emory Birky; his wife Mary Bernice Gray; his son Charles Keith Birky; his son-in-law Charles Sonnenberg; and his close friend Virginia Birky.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Birky (Karleen), Diana Sonnenberg and Kathy DeYoung (Kerry); his grandchildren, Ryan Sonnenberg, Adam Birky (Jen), Zachary DeYoung (Brie) and Emily Cooper (Alex); his great grandchildren, Connor Birky, Sawyer, Harper DeYoung, Kinsley and Avery Cooper; his siblings, Shirley Wenger, Merritt Birky, Melvin Birky (Jane), Curt Birky and Tom Birky (Marilyn); and his close friend Helen Miller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the VNA Hospice of NWI or Hopewell Mennonite Church.
