Robert K. Mitchel Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert K. Mitchel of Decatur, Indiana, who passed away on January 9, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd M. Mitchel and Veda M. Mitchel (Hawkins); his brother Jerry Mitchel; his niece Carla Mitchel; and his foster daughter Sue Weis.

He is survived by: his granddaughter Jeremi Schortgen; his children, Angela Carter (Jay) of Decatur, Mark Mitchel (Betty) of Decatur, Lee Ann Harnish (Ron) of Bluffton and Gary Mitchel of Laurelville, OH; his grandchildren, Sarah Duke (George) of Tucson, AZ, Keith Carter of Riverview, FL, Jed Carter (Angelana) of Portland, Morgan Zoeller (Dan) of Noblesville, Dustin Mitchel (Jennifer) of Decatur, Katie Sprunger (Trent "Boomer") of Berne, Mitch Harnish (Bre) of Bluffton, Chandler Harnish (Alexis) of Geneva, IL, Carlee Nelson (Brad) of Bluffton, Piercen Harnish (Arissa) of Ossian, Garrett Mitchel (Samantha) of Ashville, OH and Andrea Mitchel (Calvin Kempton) of Chillicothe, OH; his brothers, Gene Mitchel of Decatur and Ned Mitchel of Pennville; his sister-in-law Carolyn Barger of Decatur; his friend Larry Donaghy of Decatur; and also Deb Smith (Dean) of Elgin, OH. He is also survived by 32 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, January 13th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A funeral service was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Pleasant Dale Church (4504 W 300 N, Decatur, IN 46733). A burial was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at the Pleasant Dale Cemetery (4505 W 300 N, Decatur, IN 46733).

In lieu of floral tributes and gifts, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Dale Church Building Fund.
