It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John W. Bergman Sr. (Decatur, Indiana), who passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. As John departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved John. Though John may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Oren E. Bergman and Minnie H. Bergman (Huey); his wife Geraldine M. Nevil; his sons, Michael Bergman and John Bergman Jr.; his grandson Steven Patrick Bergman; and his great grandchild Mackayne Beery.
He is survived by: his daughters, Barbara E. Beery (Michael) of Willshire, OH and Karen A. Brake (Mark) of Ohio City, OH. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home (225 Adams St, Decatur, IN 46733). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
