He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Fred Kunkel, William and Kay Gardner. He is survived by: his parents, Fred J. Kunkel and Denise Kunkel (Gardner) of Decatur; his wife Becci Kunkel of Decatur; his sons, Fred, Henry and Noah; his sisters, Margaret Holley (Adam) of Westminster and Hannah Kunkel of Decatur; his grandmother Ruth E. Kunkel of Decatur; his parents-in-law, Jim and Pam Young of Fort Wayne; and his brothers-in-law, Andy Young (Jeni) of Fort Wayne, Josh Young (Chrissy) of Fort Wayne, Tim Young (Joy) of Wabash and Joe Young (Whitney) of Huntington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, March 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (1010 W Monroe St, Decatur, IN 46733). A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
