He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Captain Edward Lester and Marion Martens Gimbel; his close friend Claudia Ann Sumner; his child Rusty; his wife Claudia Ann Sumner Gimbel; his children, Ryan Gimbel (Casey) of Plain City, UT, Margie Kooman (Brandon) of Raleigh, NC, Betsey Hawkins (Richard) of Dharan, Edward Russell Gimbel (Meridth) of Salinas, CA and Karl Gimbel of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren, Ashley Davis (Tyler), Ryan Chloe Gimbel, Nora, Calvin, Henry and Frederick Hawkins; his child Ursa; and his nieces, Teressa Marquardt, Stacey Phipps (Jack) and Lexi Phipps.
