He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Heyerly and LaVera Heyerly (Geyer); his brother-in-law Bill Steffen; and his nephew Ryan Heyerly. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Heyerly of Decatur, Indiana; his children, Michelle Simon (Craig) of Bluffton, Indiana and Adam Heyerly (Kylie) of Yorktown, Indiana; his siblings, Arlin Heyerly (Roxanne) of Bluffton, Indiana and Donna Steffen of Bluffton, Indiana; and his grandchildren, JadeLyn Heyerly-Jones, Tyius Simon, Emberlynn Heyerly, Mackenzie Heyerly and Adeline Heyerly.
