He was predeceased by: his father Jimmy Lee Mooney. He is survived by: his mother Carolyn Mooney; his brothers, James "Jimmy" Mooney (Renee), Kenneth Mooney (Lana) and Roger Mooney; and his nephew Noah Mooney.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Michael's name to Tradewinds of Merrillville, IN, Adult Day Activity Program (tradewindsnwi.org).
