He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Kennedy and Anne Kennedy; his wife Lyra; his son Joseph; his sons-in-law, Cole Viers and Tom Honsa; and his siblings, Thomas, William, Jack and Richard Kennedy.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Fifield (James) of Scottsdale, AZ, Sue Honsa of Rock Island, Linda Viers of Crown Point, James H. Kennedy Jr. of Crown Point, Laura Kuzma (Jeff) of Crown Point and Paula Lohman (John) of South Bend, IN; his grandchildren, Benjamin Fifield, Katie Fifield (Anne), James C. Fifield, Sean Fengya, Shannon Honsa, Charles Kuzma, Kevin Kuzma, Chelsea Baran (Taylor) and Dr. Lauren Kennedy; his great grandchildren, Rose, Liam, Grace, Clark, Eleanor, Eugene, Vivian, Adelynn, Cole and Edward; his sibling Maryanna Lewis; and his sisters-in-law, Joan Polzin and Janis Hendrix (Jon).
