She was predeceased by: her husband Elmer Gene Newsome; her children, Sandra Lipcovich and Randall Newsome; her parents, Reuben L. Smith and Bertha P. Smith; her siblings, Monford Smith, Marjorie Lucas, Raymond Smith, George Smith and William Smith; and her sons-in-law, Donald Hickman, Joseph Lipcovich and Daniel Lynch.
She is survived by: her children, Colleen Hickman and Darin Newsome of Crown Point; her granddaughters, Jody Lipcovich and Casey Lipcovich of Highland, IN; her siblings, Barbara Pendley (late Calvin) of Hermitage, TN, Betty Johnson (late Ernest) of Lorain, OH, Donald Smith (Dolores) of North Judson, IN and Beulah Tucker (late Sheldon) of Griffith, IN; and her sister-in-law Janie Smith of Whitesburg, KY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
