He was predeceased by: his parents, Royal Schmelzle and Doris Goppert (Pfiefer); and his wife Christine Schmelzle (Berndt). He is survived by: his stepfather Leonard Goppert; his children, Dale Schmelzle (Kelly) of Crothersville, IN, Dawn Lewis of Crothersville, IN and Dean Schmelzle (Angel) of Austin, IN; and his brother Allen Goppert of Florida. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
