He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Chester and Ruth Simmons (Young); his former wife Mary Simmons (Trimpe); and his brother James Simmons. He is survived by: his children, Janice Spencer (Charles) of Johnson City, TN, Patricia Engle of Austin, IN, Richard Simmons (Cindy) of Scottsburg, IN and Leo Simmons (Crystal) of Scottsburg, IN; his grandchildren, Marie Kosh (Matt), Harrison Spencer, Brandon Johnson (Jessica), Brittany Baker (Travis), Trista Hawk, Shawn Simmons, Samantha Kell, Morgan Kell-Vasquez (Enrique), Ashley Riley (Matt), Brian Simmons Justin (Allison), Charlie Hemard and Tora Simmons; and his brother Chester Simmons (Janice Ponsler) of Butlerville, IN.. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren.
