Violet Hocking Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Violet Hocking (Crawfordsville, Indiana), who passed away on June 17, 2019, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Hobart Surber and Helen Christine Surber; her husband Joseph; and her brothers, Joseph Surber, Robert Surber and James "J. D.".

She is survived by: her children, Jerry Hocking of Crawfordsville, Rickey Hocking (Cathy) of Crawfordsville, John Hobart Hocking (Janet Mason) of Crawfordsville, Sandra Mendenhall (Ron) of Ladoga and Rhonda Commons (Dave) of Crawfordsville; her siblings, David "Sonny" Surber (Pat) of Reynolds, Mike Surber (Vivian) of Crawfordsville, Nancy Teague of Crawfordsville, Judy Whitlow of Crawfordsville and Sue Sheets of Crawfordsville; her grandchildren, Michelle Struck (Mark), Megan Craig (Andy), Amanda Arshad (Nash), Pamela Peters (Daniel), Benjamin Hocking (Teresa), Jennifer Rowell (Phillip), Jonathan Commons (Leah), Thomas Mason, Alexander Mason (Jeongmi) and Sara Mason; her sisters, Patsy Surber, Goldie Surber and Mary Elizabeth Surber; and her grandson Matthew Joseph Hocking. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
