She was predeceased by: her parents, Ora Vern and Kitty Marie Mills (Nichols); her husband Floyd "Doc" Lewis Surface Jr.; and her siblings, Wayne, Wendall Mills and Wanda Clawson.
She is survived by: her children, Randy Surface (Jayne) of Columbus, Rodney Surface (Elisa) of Darlington, Rita Starnes (Gene) of Waveland and Regina Trent of Bainbridge; and her brother Ed Mills (Judy) of Crawfordsville. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Browns Valley Christian Church, 9011 SR 47 S, Crawfordsville, IN 47933 or you may also donate online under the Donations Tab on Shirley's obituary page at http://www.sandersfuneralcare.com for which these donations will be used to buy local gift cards for the nursing staff working the COVID wing at Ben Hur Nursing Home.
