He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Surface and Sandra Surface (Harwood). He is survived by: his wife Tammy Kay Tauscher; his children, Beau Surface (Abby) and Lori Pollard (Jeff); his sisters, Jeanie Surface Cummins and Anita Jo Blanford (Rich); his grandchildren, Jaleeza, Henley, Remi, Ada, Collin, Cora, Nella, Tyler, Dani and Eli; his stepchildren, Shelly Paulson (Tilmer) and Tony Fifer; his pets, Doodle and Winnie; and his cousins, Roxana Haffner Morgan (Rocky) and Vorina Haffner McDonald (Peb). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Sanders Funeral Care (315 S Washington St, Crawfordsville, IN 47933). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
