He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Georgia Elizabeth Brierley (Rison); and his siblings, Yvonne Sherman, Paul Brierley and Mary Anne Brierley.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Karen McMahon; his children, Heather Brierley and John R. Brierley; his stepchildren, Kevin Blue and Crista Blue White; and his siblings, Wanda Schmidt and James Brierley. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
