He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ralph Cope and Juanita Edward Cope; his son Stephen Cope; his sister Sheryl Cope; and his stepson Tim Everett.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Cope; his sons, Larry Pettit (Barbara), James W. Cope and Rudy Cope; his brother Donald Cope (Lois); his stepchildren, Kevin Everett (Teresa), Kimberly Ajayi (Nick) and Troy Everett (Ruth); and his grandchildren, Miranda, Morgan, Blake, Annie, Adam, Logan, Tegan, Tara, Ellen, Ethan and Jennifer.
