He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel A. Smith and Mary Ann Crowder Smith; his wife Lou Smith; his daughter Linda L. Smith; and his brothers, Bob and Sam Smith.
He is survived by: his son Charles Smith of Lafayette; and his brother Albert Smith of Crawfordsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
