He was predeceased by: his parents, William Carpenter and Naomi Carpenter (Babb); his former wife Virginia White; his wife Madonna Morgan; and his siblings, Lula Bell, Charles and Robert Carpenter.

He is survived by: his daughter Jennifer Adamec; his grandchildren, Laura Smith and Zachary Adamec; and his stepdaughter Diana Dotson.
