He was predeceased by: his parents, George Schaeffer and Elsie Schaeffer (Lighty); and his stepfather Garland Sams. He is survived by: his wife Bethel Schaeffer; and his children, Tom Schaeffer (Julie), Ron Schaeffer (Kathy) of Columbus, IN, Debbie Scrogham (Jim) and Donnie Schaeffer (Becky). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
