He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin "Bud" Gayler and Loraine Gayler (Haniford); his wife Judy L. Griffin; his son Jason Gary Gayler; his sisters, Sandy Holland and Linda Miller; his brothers-in-law, Dick Griffin, Doug Abbott, Les Nickle, Randy Hollis and Terry Holland; and his pet Maisy.

He is survived by: his children, Susie Bolser (Chad) of Covington, IN and Jeff Gayler (Hillary) of Fithian, IL; his sisters, Vicki Hollis of Veedersburg, IN and Tammy Nickle of Covington, IN; his siblings-in-law, Ann Abbott of Covington, IN and Scott Griffin (Melissa) of Veedersburg, IN; his grandchildren, Karson Allen, Maddie Bolser (Jake Pence), MaKenzie Gayler (Dalton Walsh), MaKayla Gayler and Gage Gayler; and his great grandchildren, Adley Walsh and Cooper Walsh.
