He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Horning and Christine Grizzell Horning; and his siblings, Barbara Jean Corn, Bonnie Hudelston, Audrey Potters, Judith Purcell, Valerie "Toots" Thompkins, Terry Horning and Gail Horning.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Reece (Arthur), Jackie Sturgeon, Selena Nick and Joseph Douglas Horning (Lisa); his grandchildren, Alicia Sturgeon, Holly Jo Cox (Raymond), Thomas Arthur Reece (Tara) and Douglas Joe Jarrett; his great grandchildren, Laney Jo Smith, Hank Wyatt Smith, Leiland Gene Smith, Bentley Ray Cox and Theo Leon Reece; and his siblings, Ruthlee Morgan (Dick) and Fredrick Horning (Linda). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
