He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Sr. O'Neal and Gayle Holland O'Neal; his wife W. Gayle Huffman; his grandchildren, Tyler and Teegan; and his brothers, William O'Neal, Chester O'Neal and Richard O'Neal.

He is survived by: his children, Greg O'Neal, Grant (Melissa O'Neal) and Gina (Patrick Chaney); his grandchildren, Jacob, Dane, Willie, Nolan, Hank and Samantha; and his great grandchildren, Riley and Christopher. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Gary's honor.
