He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman Edward, Sr. and Gladys Lilly Yates Cole; his niece Shermene Burns; his brother-in-law Ron Zimmerman; and his father-in-law Ernie Reed.
He is survived by: his daughter Gina Vanover of Plainfield; his grandchildren, Kristin Vanover, Nicholas Vanover, Brice Cole, Drew Cole, Chloe Cole, Shelby Bingham and Cole Bingham; his siblings, Sandy Collins (Bob) of Richmond, Debi Zimmerman of Spiceland, Charles Cole (Valorie) of Kirkland, Indiana, Don Yates (Claudia) of Fishers, Indiana and Rita Bodwell (John) of Fishers, Indiana; and his mother-in-law Jenny Reed of Connersville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fayette County Cancer Society or First Baptist Church.
