He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Sparks and Janice Richter; his brother Dennis Sparks; and his grandparents, Ernest, Rebecca Pennington, Green and Emma Sparks.

He is survived by: his wife Rhonda Sparks of Everton; his children, Shanna West (Brenton) of Everton, Doug Sparks, Jr. of Connersville, Daniel Sparks of Indiana and Matthew Moore of Everton; his grandchildren, Dillon, Dominic, Samantha, Alex, Alyssa Sparks, Carina Badanek and Jensen West; his brothers, Darron Sparks (Jenny) of Anderson and David Sparks of Indianapolis; his stepfather Marvin Richter of Edwardsport, Indiana; his parents-in-law, Ted and Joy McQuinley of Everton; and his siblings-in-law, Mike McQuinley, Mindy McQuinley (Danny Allen) and Sheila Hobbs (Chris). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
