Sarah Elizabeth Schaefer Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sarah Elizabeth Schaefer of Columbus, Indiana, who passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur LaHue and Edith Hitch LaHue; her husband Herbert A. Schaefer; and her grandsons, Daniel Fear and Matthew Fear.
She is survived by: her children, Diana Fear (Robert) of Columbus, Roger Schaefer (Brenda) of Columbus, Judy Strasser (Danny) of Columbus, Kathy Petty of Columbus and Mary Pifer (David) of Terre Haute; and her grandchildren, Christy Fear, Desirae Fear, Mark Schaefer, Craig Ruble, Clay Ruble, Cory Ruble, Samantha Jones, Jacqueline Hatton (Derek), Chance Petty (Chloe), Luke Petty (Kerrigan), Nick Pifer (Margaret) and Nathan Pifer. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the East Columbus United Methodist Church (2439 Indiana Ave, Columbus, IN 47201).
Memorial contributions may be given to East Columbus United Methodist Church.
