He was predeceased by: his parents, William Heiskell and Ida Alice Boll Sims; and his spouse Ingelvie Luenebrink. He is survived by: his children, Randolf L. Sims (Joyce), Robert D. Sims (Peggy), Gary L. Sims (Michelle), Keith A. Sims (Sue) and Twila A. Romine (David) of Columbus; and his sister Mildred Jean Fiesbeck. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in his name may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
