He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Handt and Luva Handt (Campbell); his son Robert Handt (Frances Handt); his wife Blanca Handt; his siblings, Dorothy Larson and Dale Handt; his brother-in-law John Zapfe; and his nephew Randy Johnson.

He is survived by: his former wife Frances Elizabeth Zapfe; his siblings, Alan Handt (Debbie) and Mary Lou (Randy); his brothers-in-law, Albert Zapfe (Phyllis) and Carl Zapfe (Betty); his children, Linda Sneed (Mike), Teresa Handt, Leon Handt (Cindy), Barbara Handt, Kenneth Handt (Ashley) and Sandra Allman (Scott); his grandchildren, Shannon Sneed, Nathan Burton, Lauren Raines (Mike), Rachel Handt, Abigail Handt, Matthew Allman, Sara Burton, Megan Allman and Brittain Wickes; and his great grandchild Lucas Raines. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
